Tom Greaves

CEO

Tom Greaves, CEO and cofounder of Spar Point Research, has more than 20 years’ experience in engineering, product development, and business research and analysis. Greaves has authored reports on best practices for deploying 3D laser scanning, the benefits and paybacks of 3D plant design, MCAD distribution strategies and other issues, and has advised executives from engineering / procurement / construction firms and manufacturing companies on the application of information technology to solve business problems. Greaves has also advised the world’s leading software developers and hardware suppliers on marketing, pricing, partnering, promotion and distribution strategies in North America, Europe and Japan.

Greaves's previous positions include analyst and marketing executive at Daratech, Inc. in Cambridge, Massachusetts, product manager at Wexxar Packaging in Vancouver, Canada, and wireline engineer for Schlumberger Overseas S.A. in Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, and Oman. He holds a B.Sc. in physics from Queen’s University at Kingston, an M.Sc. in physics from the University of British Columbia, and a master’s from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Greaves serves as a board member for the New England Suzuki Institute, assistant treasurer for the International Association of Forensic and Security Metrology and membership secretary for the ASTM E57 Committee on 3D Imaging Systems.

Bruce Jenkins

President of Research

Bruce Jenkins, President of Research and cofounder of Spar Point Research, has more than 20 years’ experience in technology business research and analysis. Jenkins has authored over 500 articles and studies on engineering, manufacturing and construction technologies and their business impact. He has consulted to automotive, aerospace, industrial equipment and other manufacturers on evaluating and selecting solutions and providers, and managing provider transitions. He has also advised the world’s leading software developers and hardware suppliers on competitive positioning and new market opportunities.

Jenkins has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, The New York Times, Investor’s Business Daily, Business Week and other publications. He has appeared as an invited speaker at industry conferences, user group meetings, investor conferences, customer seminars and sales meetings around the world. As chair and moderator of industry conferences, Jenkins has interviewed senior product development executives, program managers, project leaders, and solution provider CEOs. He holds a B.A. from Yale University.

Koji Kawamura

Senior Analyst

Koji Kawamura, senior analyst, has been with Spar Point Research since October 2004, translating its SparView e-newsletter into Japanese and networking within the engineering community in Japan. In addition, he has recently served on various committees relating to digital engineering practices for process plants in Japan and has been involved in national projects in this area. Mr. Kawamura served with Asahi Kasei Group from 1967 through 2003, where initially he was engaged in engineering for chemical plant design and construction for Asahi; subsequently he led development of the 3D plant design system EYECAD. In 1994 he was appointed Director of Asahi Kasei Engineering. Mr. Kawamura also served as Chair of the Information Systems Committee of ENAA (the Engineering Advancement Association of Japan) for 11 years. He holds a bachelor's in applied chemistry and a master's in chemical engineering, both from Osaka University.

Cheryl Pugh

Manager of Business Development

Cheryl Pugh directs market development and business expansion for Spar Point Research. She has over 20 years' experience working with Fortune 500 companies to develop marketing and sales strategies in the process/petrochemical, aerospace/defense and healthcare sectors. Her particular expertise is in aligning an organization's information and technology investments with its overall business strategy to create actionable plans for meeting business and revenue goals. Pugh joined Spar Point Research after a career at IBM where she held numerous positions, most recently director of business development for oil and gas markets in North and South America for the PLM organization. She holds a B.S. in marketing from Texas A & M University.
